How to produce disinfectant and hand sanitiser labels easily
Many public service providers across Europe are having to distribute hand sanitiser gels and disinfectants. These include hospitals and even the fire services in some countries. Pharmacy stores have also been given permission to produce and distribute disinfectants and even recently we saw examples of companies from different sectors offering hand sanitisers to help support the local authorities.
Usually these disinfectants arrive in large containers and then need to be refilled into smaller bottles for widespread distribution. The small bottles need to be labelled. Sanitiser gels contain Ethanol or Isopropanol and other chemicals and so cannot be distributed unless they include the appropriate labelling such as the correct hazardous pictogram and other information such as batch numbers.
Apart from the hazardous symbols, there are other information that need to be included on the labelling like:
The symbols explanation, the use of instructions, barcode number and production date. There are also additional information that aren’t required by any regulation but are useful to include like the brand name and logo of the company or organisation
Ordering those labels from external suppliers can be time consuming and expensive, especially when many companies are closed or not in full operation.
It is very important that the challenge of labelling doesn’t slow the distribution of sanitisers and this is a good example where the ability to print in-house and on-demand provides an answer to these challenges.
On-demand colour label printers, such as the Epson ColorWorks C3500, are ideal to meet these needs. The ColorWorks C3500 is suitable for printing small to medium size batches of labels and can print several thousand labels a day.
It is easy to use, very compact you may install on or under the desk and comes with intuitive label making software, the Nicelabel Epson special edition.
The software allows you to quickly design a label to the dimensions you want, with all the information you need to include in full colour.
The printer is equipped with DuraBrite pigment inks which provide very durable, resistant results. When combined with PE based material the printed labels comply with BS 5609. That basically means that the labels are durable enough so even if the contents of the bottle come into contact with the labels the information will still be readable.
In this way on-demand label printing can offer a quick and simple solution to the challenge faced by many public service providers so that distributors of critical supplies can print when they want, as many they want and remain fully compliant.
